Gun Hill

It is said that before Independence a huge canon was fired from this place in the afternoon, everyday, at the same time which indicates the citizen about the present timing. The Christ Church

One of the oldest church in the Himalayan region, this is an exclusive Gothic style church for the devotees. People come here to pray and visualize the beautiful crafts on the glass windows portraying the life of Jesus Christ. There is also a deodar tree planted by Princess of Wales.

Holiday in Mussoorie

This is a small residential colony with few shops stretched across the area. The name of this bazaar came from the fact that it was first started by nurses who stayed here during British time. Confectionery shops are one of the best attraction of Sisters Bazaar. The place also is the proud owner of veteran personalities like Dev Anand, Tom Alter and others.

Camel’s Back Road

Lal Tibba

Being the highest peak of Mussoorie, Lal Tibba is often referred as Depot Hill too. Jwalaji Temple

Jwalaji Temple is one of the popular shrines among the locals which is based on the Benog Hill with a statue of Goddess Durga in it.

Company Garden

One of the best picnic spots in Mussoorie is Company Garden with mini lake, large collection of versatile flowers, natural extravaganza and an amusement park. It promises an enjoyable day to every visitor.

Sir George Everest House

The estate of Sir George Everest who was positioned as the first Surveyor General of India is based here in Mussoorie. It may be noted that Mt Everest, the world’s highest peak, was named after Sir George. The place holds an excellent scenic beauty.

Nag Devta Temple

Based at a distance of 6km from Mussoorie, this is a temple of Lord Shiva on Cart Mackanjee Road.

Cloud End

Situated at the extreme west of Mussoorie hills lies the beautiful bungalow of Cloud End built in by a British Major. It was one of the first four building made in this hill station. At present it is been transformed into a hotel named Cloud’s End. The verdant surroundings and the environment here provide sheer joy to the onlookers.

Established by the Tibetan population based in the hill station, this is a pious shrine also named as Shedup Choepelling temple located in the Happy Valley. Benog Mountain Quail Sanctuary

How to Reach Mussoorie

The nearest airport to Mussoorie is the Jolly Grant airport which is well connected with Delhi airport making it possible to connect with almost all destinations across the world. For railways one can connect with the Dehradun Railway station which lies at a distance of 34kms from Mussoorie. Almost all major cities and state can be connected through railways from here. Apart from this there are excellent road connectivity supported by the State Transport and private buses to reach Mussoorie. Private Cabs are also available here to travel within and around the hill station.

Shopping in Mussoorie

Shopping can be a pretty exciting and entertaining activity in Mussoorie with plenty of local markets selling variety of items. Excursions from Mussoorie

Though Mussoorie itself is a place with many attractions, there are some getaways from the hill station which are based nearer to Mussoorie and are excellent tourist spots to cover. Among hill stations there are Dhanolti (25km) and Kalsi (60km) and pilgrimage centres which include Haridwar (78), Rishikesh (68), Paonta Sahib (73km) and many others.

Best Time to Visit Mussoorie

The best time to visit Mussoorie is no doubt the summer months and the spring season. The summer months are from April to June when the climate remains pleasant and it is ideal for sightseeing. The same happens during September to November when the chilly winters are yet to come and the weather remains enjoyable. Monsoon time should be avoided by tourist since the roads in the hilly areas get damaged and it becomes difficult to move.
