There is no airport in Mussoorie. The nearest international airport from Mussoorie is Delhi International Airport and the nearest national airport is Jolly Grant Airport. The distance of Jolly Grant Airport from Mussoorie is around 60 kms which can be travelled by local conveyance at reasonable rates. Jolly Grant Airport, previously, did not had regular flight operation of various airways companies but as per the Government decision, Indian Airlines have regular flights to Delhi Airport from where passengers can connect to other cities and states. Situated on the Rishikesh-Dehradun Highway, the airport has private taxi counter as well as Uttarakhand State Transport bus stand near the gate.

However as per the present scenario, considering the popularity and demand of the hill station, several companies have started their flight operation on this route. Mussoorie Railways

One of the most prominent and widely used medium of transportation is the railways. The nearest railhead of Mussoorie is Dehradun railway station. Having four platforms, this particular station serves quite a number of superfast trains from various parts of the state as well as the neighboring cities. It is well connected with almost all major places like Delhi, Amritsar, Lucknow, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Saharanpur, etc in Northern India as well as metro cities like Mumbai and Kolkata. Even there are direct trains for Muzzaffarpur, Varanasi, Indore, Madurai, Ujjain and Gorakhpur Junction.The station code for Dehradun is DDN. The station is based at a distance of 34 km from Mussoorie which is again travelled with the help of local transports. Buses in Mussoorie

For many travelers a bus ride is more convenient as one can enjoy the picturesque Mussoorie while on their way to the city. Mussoorie being a prominent destination, remains well connected by the state transport bus services from all neighboring places. While some can be travelled by direct buses others are inter-linked with other bus services. The state transport bus service along with private bus operators cover some of the popular destinations near Mussoorie like Barkot, Dehradun, Hanuman Chatti, Saharanpur, Old Tehri and Srinagar Garhwal. Apart from this there are direct buses to New Delhi and Nainital too. The Uttarakhand State Transport Corporation Buses have all kinds of bus services like ordinary bus service, deluxe bus, express buses and super fast buses which differs one from other in respect of time of travel, charges, and comfort too.

Mussoorie has regular buses to almost all destinations in and around Mussoorie. The buses can be fetched from four main bus stands in Mussoorie which includes Library Bus Stand, Masonic Bus Stand, Tehri Bus Stand, and Kempty Bus Stand. However, the latter remains operational only in the months of May to October. For Barlowganj and Jharipani there are local buses leaving from Masonic Bus stand everyday at an interval of few hours. The first bus, however, leaves at 8:00 am.

Local Transport in Mussoorie

Travelling within Mussoorie can be comfortably done with the help of horse rides as well as cycle rickshaws available at various places across the city. Prominent horse-riding routes present in Mussoorie are Motilal Nehru Road horse stand to Municipal Garden, Mount Rose horse stand to Deep Hotel via Camels Back road, Picture Palace horse stand to Lal Tibba and Mount Rose horse stand to Jhoola Ghar via Mall road. The rates of all these horse riding routes vary from Rs 30 to Rs120. Apart from horse riding routes there are cycle rickshaws which travel through Jhula Ghar, Library, Municipal Garden, Camels Back road etc. The rates, however, are negotiable for the cycle rickshaws.
